Western North Carolina is perfect for the sorts of adventure that a great summer camp offers. One needs only to experience the breathtaking views along our scenic Blue Ridge Parkway, sample the diverse culture of our cities and small towns, or enjoy the amazing folk art and craft, the waterfalls, the hiking, mountain biking, climbing, fly-fishing, and temperate summer climate to understand why North Carolina is one of the strongest camping states in the country.
This area is to camps what Northern California is to wines. There are more than one hundred and twenty camps in North Carolina, and almost half of those are found in the four counties around Asheville, Brevard, and Hendersonville.
Having a desirable and beautiful location certainly helps bolster the popularity of North Carolina camps. Our greatest resource may be the "camp community" that we have created amongst ourselves. We have seen one another succeed by trying new things or adjusting existing programs which only proves the old adage about many heads being better than one. Of course there are many different types of camps to choose from within our Western North Carolina community and we feel confident that whichever one is right for your family any child will benefit from time spent in these mountains.
